United Way of Perth-Huron improves lives and builds strong local communities by bringing change where it is needed most. In our work we lead in many ways – as a funder, partner, convener, advocate and researcher for more than 50 agencies, programs, and projects. 1 in 3 Perth-Huron residents utilize at least one of the associated agencies, programs or projects, making the United Way of Perth Huron important to all.
Thank you to everyone who joined us at our Spaghetti Dinner.

Festival Hydro Cheque Presentation
United Way wants to shout out a big thank you to Festival Hydro for the huge support they are giving to Campaign 2012. Festival Hydro was helping with campaign, even before the kick-off. A crew rebuilt the thermometer on got it ready for the annual lighting on Ontario Street in Stratford. When it was kick-off time, Festival Hydro was there too. Brad Jezard rode up the thermometer and revealed the goal, a first for United Way and Festival Hydro. In addition to that, crews have been out hanging United Way banners in communities across Perth County. And now, to top it off... Festival Hydro comes out big with their Employee Campaign. Thanks so much Festival Hydro, we couldn't do it without you! View the video.

The Community Impact Committee of United Way Perth-Huron has been busy gathering feedback from as many people as possible. The purpose is to better understand community priorities and United Way's role in seeing the place we all live in become a better place for everyone. Twenty focus groups are already underway and an online survey is available at www.perthhuron.unitedway.ca. Ballot box displays have already travelled through Huron County and starting December 8th, will be appearing in Perth County.
Ballot boxes are ready for your input this week in these Perth County locations:
The following week, the boxes will be in Stratford and St. Marys at these locations:
It's as simple as 1.....2...... (There are only two questions!). Don't miss this opportunity to join United Way of Perth-Huron and grow the seeds of change in your community.
Starting Monday, December 10, 2012 United Way of Perth-Huron will be accepting applications for funding to address new, emergent, or critical issues.
The United Way of Perth-Huron is pleased to announce another year of Development & Demonstration Grant Funding. The purpose of these grants is to assist with short-term funding for the start-up or expansion of projects that address new, emergent, or critical issues; that foster partnerships between organizations and individuals; or that improve organizational structure to build capacity within the charitable sector. Applicants to the Development & Demonstration grants must be operating their programs within Perth and Huron Counties and demonstrate a need for the program or service proposed, as well as, the capacity to respond to the identified need, collaboration with existing services, and alignment with community priorities.
Last year's grant recipients, The Foundation for Enriching Education and Kids First Huron Perth Steering Committee, are working to continue the sharing in our community. By developing a KidsFirst Shared Intake Project they hope to develop a shared best practices model for agencies providing families' access to services needed for their children. The Shared Intake process aims to eliminate duplication so that parents will no longer be required to repeat their story numerous times with numerous service providers.
Other successful past Development & Demonstration grant recipients include; the John Howard Society of London & Districts' Institutional Visiting and Reintegration Support Program at the Stratford jail, the Huron County Food Bank Distribution Centre's Neighbours Helping Neighbours Program and the St. Marys Adult Learning Program'sWorkforce Essential Skills Upgrading in Listowel.
An orientation and training session for interested grant applicants will be held on Tuesday, December 11 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at the United Centre (32 Erie Street, Stratford). Please contact Megan Partridge at 519-271-7730 ext. 225 or email Megan Partridge to rsvp for the training session.
